Welcome to my website for Buries Markes Old Boys

This site is an extension of the Facebook Group, Friends of Buries Markes. The Group is only open to ex-BM employees and it is a place for former shipmates to chat and share stories and photos of their time with Buries Markes. At present it has over 70 active members, so it can get a bit lively. If you have a Facebook account and fulfill the criteria of previously working in any capacity for Buries Markes (Ship Management) or any of it's subsidiary companies, the please check this link out and put in a request to join. You can find us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/buriesmarkesshipmanagement/

It is a closed group so the rest of Facebook can't join in. If the links don't work (and sometimes they don't) look me up by name (David Thomas) and introduce yourself and I will add you to the group.

Back to my website, as I said it is an extension of the group but also a history stop for anyone simply searching for information on Buries Markes. The site is always a work in progress, one or two things might not work or appear when they should but I'm on it and hopefully things will all fall into place. I spent five years with BM from 1977 - 1982, starting out on the La Hacienda as a Galley Boy and finishing up on the La Ensenada as Second Cook and Baker. I loved the company so much I wrote a book about my time at sea with them and links to this and the other books I have written about Buries Markes can be found within this website.

I hope you enjoy a browse through my website and maybe find a few things you never knew, please come back as I update it almost on a daily basis, so the ship you where looking for today and wasn't here, maybe there tomorrow. Thank you for your time...... David Thomas
